SOLD OUT!- Beginning Naalbinding
with Bill Oliphant
Naalbinding is an ancient “knitting” technique that creates a finished material that is stretchy and thick like knit cloth, but it is done with just a single eyed needle. It predates both knitting and crochet. You will learn how to start, how to do the basic Oslo stitch, how to increase, decrease and work in the round. We will use the split-splice to add on when the yarn runs out which is why I always use feltable, 100% wool yarn. Students will receive a handmade wooden needle (I make my own) and enough yarn to finish a basic wool hat. Handouts will be provided so that you can figure it out after you get home and pick it up after not looking at it for a few days. Examples of gloves, mittens, socks, slippers, and hats will be shown. As time permits we can discuss how to do other stitches and how to make your own patterns.

Introduction to Fiber Reactive Dyes
with Sarah Buchanan
In this class we will use the hand-painting technique to create the color way pictured on 100% cotton sport weight yarn. This method allows colors to blend without becoming muddy. We will also dye a 65% silk 25% linen fingering weight yarn. We will create a tonal color way by overlaying colors on top of each other. This blend will also demonstrate how silk absorbs color differently than the linen. There are many ways to dye silk, so we will discuss other options using fiber reactive dyes as well as acid and lanraset dyes. Because of the nature of fiber reactive dyes, projects will be rinsed at home with directions and supplies provided.

Exploring Clasped Warp and Weft on a Rigid Heddle Loom
with Amanda Neal
You've heard about clasped weft, now learn about Clasped Warp! This is an exciting technique to expand your warping skills. Clasped warps let us play with more than one color per warp thread and it creates a beautiful unique effect. We will make a scarf using clasps in both the warp and weft. These linked color effects create movement and interest in your fabric. Each student will choose a kit that will have everything you need to create one of these amazing scarves. This is a fun project to warp and weave and then repeat!
Experience: Beginner+ (Students must know how to warp their own loom and have prior weaving experience. This is not a learn to weave class).
Cost: $95
Students need to bring: Rigid heddle loom-at least 10" wide, 1 shuttle, waste yarn, spacers for winding on warp.
